Toxic environment with limited career growth opportunities
Pros
Not much, lots of the skills can't be transfered to real world.
Cons
The data center environment is toxic, deeply unprofessional, and functions like a dysfunctional mom-and-pop shop rather than a major tech company. Leadership relies shockingly on primitive tools like spreadsheets to manage massive operations. Career mobility is non-existent; data center staff are actively bottlenecked and trapped in their roles. The workplace culture is incredibly immature and cliquey, filled with unmotivated individuals coasting for a paycheck. Worse, the interview and promotion processes are completely corrupted by politics, where managers and biased interview loops actively work to sabotage external or ambitious talent to protect their own mediocrity.
