Working at R3 has been a positive experience overall. The team environment is friendly and supportive, and there's a good balance between collaboration and independent work. Leadership is approachable, and there are opportunities for learning, growth and adding value.

R3 is imploding. Let 100ish people go in September 2023. Don’t join. And if you’re already there and haven’t left yet , then likely you’re part of the inner aka incompetent and highly political circle And don’t get fooled by the family that was let go most recently - they likely already have a job or 2 lined up

For the most part, the best job ever.

Pros

Many clever, generous and driven colleagues. Great offices. Clear mission. Lots of personal development opportunities. Good quality work, reasonably compensated. Recent engineering leadership have addressed past issues with leadership experience and capability. Strong focus on tokenised Real World Assets means that their product market fit is better than it has ever been.

Cons

Not one for the risk-averse.

Pros

1. Decent pay and UAR. 2. Great office, free snacks. 3. Brilliant Engineers and fellow developers. Excellent CTO. 4. Excellent learning opportunities for technical employees.

Cons

1. Lack of collaboration between teams. 2. Corda 5 doesn't have the faintest resemblance to a blockchain. Corda 5 is incredibly complex that it makes it really tough to work on, train new people, onboard new customers, etc. 3. As a developer, you don't get the support you need from the senior folks because they are also occupied with too much work. 4. Mid management doesn't take any decisions. They just take credit for the work done by developers. 5. The developer relations team doesn't communicate well with the marketing team or the engineers. 6. Job security is not there. I guess they cut down the work force by 8-9 percent in a few months. 7. Random decisions from top leadership that might affect your career. 8. New recruits, especially from India aren't as skilled as the earlier Indian recruits. Just for budget advantage, they are compromising quality. 9. They have drastically cut down the budget on events and travel. This could be an indicator that R3 is slowly running out of budget. Unless they turn profitable soon, the future could be bleak.
