I have been working at Swinton Insurance full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A business going through modernisation with strong leadership - not afraid to make tough decisions to ensure stability and sustainability. A customer centric, resilient and loyal work force who are well equipped to take the business to the next level!

A business that encourages and promotes diversity at every level.

    Cons

Relentless change - albeit required to bring the business into the 21st century. It would be nice to see a period of consolidation to embed to changes.

Getting things right the first time - too many changes implemented without the involvement of the people at the coal face.

Unfortunately In the past we have had people making decisions for areas of the business in which they had little understanding - I am pleased to say that there have been significant improvements in this area over the last couple of years.

    Advice to Management

Clear, transparent and honest communication required to ensure that people are well informed and well prepared for further changes within the business.

Share the vision and the strategy to ensure employee engagement and buy in!

Continue to make the right changes required to ensure the future of what is an iconic brand. No more knee jerk implementation of processes that are not fit for purpose - continue to learn from the mistakes made in the past

I have been working at Swinton Insurance (More than a year)

    Pros

I left too long ago to give a frank opinion and have heard from so many people the company has changed beyond recognition that it is impossible for me to honestly say.

    Cons

Whistleblowing was a joke. I had an issue with a member of staff hanging up on customers, falling asleep at the back of the branch, arguing with members of staff for "fun", unwanted physical contact on myself (lets say he was very hands on with me) and making the place very uncomfortable to work in. I blew the whistle (more about not helping customers than anything else) and nothing happened. He figured out it was me and then made the place incredibly uncomfortable to work in again. My last day in branch was December 23rd and I worked late to finish up for christmas. All my private and confidential notes that were taken during my meeting with my cluster manager were left on the table for all to see making my position impossible to carry on with. Due to the stress of this I was put onto sickness until I had to resign my position. To this day no one has got in touch with me from Swinton to discuss how I felt despite numerous attempts at contact.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your staff

I worked at Swinton Insurance full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Was once an excellent company to work for and at . Great service given by loyal staff who had worked for years in a thriving branch network.

    Cons

The last 3 years at Swinton were like watching it die . A transformation programme delivered with the sensitivity of a brick by people who didnt know the business.

    Advice to Management

You would not listen but just in case you do and theres any hope for a small network of branches think about a multi skilled multi product branch serving the needs of personal/commerciaĺ/taxi driver customers .Should easily turn over £7 mill GWP within a few years and the customers still want a local presence.Best of Luck with whats left !

    Pros

Progressive outlook, always aiming to improve things for customers. Staff bonus paid even when profit objective not met.

    Cons

Sometimes too many stakeholders try different things to improve things when perhaps a longer term relaxed approach may be better.

    Advice to Management

Remember how much teams have had to deal with over past few years, be easy on your demands.
