I have been working at Swinton Insurance full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A business going through modernisation with strong leadership - not afraid to make tough decisions to ensure stability and sustainability. A customer centric, resilient and loyal work force who are well equipped to take the business to the next level!

A business that encourages and promotes diversity at every level.

    Cons

Relentless change - albeit required to bring the business into the 21st century. It would be nice to see a period of consolidation to embed to changes.

Getting things right the first time - too many changes implemented without the involvement of the people at the coal face.

Unfortunately In the past we have had people making decisions for areas of the business in which they had little understanding - I am pleased to say that there have been significant improvements in this area over the last couple of years.

    Advice to Management

Clear, transparent and honest communication required to ensure that people are well informed and well prepared for further changes within the business.

Share the vision and the strategy to ensure employee engagement and buy in!

Continue to make the right changes required to ensure the future of what is an iconic brand. No more knee jerk implementation of processes that are not fit for purpose - continue to learn from the mistakes made in the past

    Pros

Swinton has gone through some massive changes...last year it was a horrendous place to work. No one could or would tell you what was happening! All we knew for sure is that we were being shaved to be sold! Well thankfully that’s happened now! We are no longer being run by a bunch of charlatans with no care of their people. Who were only interested in feathering their own nests! It now feels like a totally different workplace...there is a definite buzz about the place...a buzz I haven’t felt at Swinton for years!! It feels like a company that wants to listen and wants to go somewhere! Hopefully this will carry on!

    Cons

As we are now part of the Atlanta Group there is a concern that this is all a softly softly approach before they make sweeping changes! And to be honest what your workforce needs now is a bit of security

    Advice to Management

Keep listening to the people on the frontline, please be “honest and open” and not just tell us what you think we want to hear or what you want us to know! Look to your people managers, check that they are doing the right thing for their people and not just taking the credit for the work they do.

I worked at Swinton Insurance full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The company had very clear ideas on where it was heading and was well run by the Covea board but was purely a care-taking job for the Chief Exec to parcel up for sale.

    Cons

Poor investment in technology but then this is prevalent throughout the insurance industry at the moment

    Advice to Management

Invest in the right areas (Systems, Marketing etc) and this may get stronger with the backing of the other Ardonagh Group divisions

I worked at Swinton Insurance full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexi time is the only good thing.

    Cons

    Everything was wrong.
The call monitoring made you feel scared to pick up the calls.
They police you during any review.
    made you feel shot.

    Advice to Management

Too late all branches are closed only call center will remain where they can control you like Robots.
