BAT Russia recently organised the BAT Case Competition, with the Final held last month in Saint Petersburg. All in all, 20 teams of highly motivated students from the city’s top universities applied and took part in the selection process, and then the best teams successfully qualified for the final. Sandy Wiseman, Head of HR, BAT Russia, inspired them with a welcoming speech and answered questions about career opportunities in the industry. The Competition was a huge success and all of the students who took part applied for either our Management Trainee Programme or Summer Internship.
“During the two-year journey, I experienced what other graduates experience in 5+ years.” That’s what HR Management Trainee, Yuki Sei, told a room full of prospective trainees at BAT Vietnam’s “The Next Winning Leaders” event in Ho Chi Minh City. During the event, senior managers came to speak and network with participants, explaining what Management Trainees like Yuki get from BAT that helps them to progress their career rapidly. Head of Finance, Shahid Afzal said to those looking to start their career: “You need to find what your passion is, what challenges you, and what excites you.”
Congratulations to Ken Mbugua, a Management Trainee from BAT Kenya, who won the prestigious Silver Spear Award! The award, part of the East and Central Africa region’s recognition scheme, is presented to employees who display exemplary behaviours demonstrating our guiding principles and delivered agreed milestones to the company charter. Having taken leadership of a project and coordinating it to success, Ken said that coaching opportunities from his manager and assigned coach, in addition to comprehensive support when he needed it, were instrumental to this achievement.
