We're thrilled to celebrate our 2024 Graduate Cohort, who recently came together to raise an impressive £5,219 for Shelter, our charity partner. As part of our annual graduate challenge, the cohort took on a range of inspiring fundraising activities - from hiking some of the UK's tallest mountains to completing a gruelling 24-hour tennis marathon. All funds raised go directly to supporting people facing homelessness across the UK. The graduates recently celebrated their achievements at a special event with representatives from Shelter and members of Veolia's sustainability and leadership teams. It was a fantastic opportunity to reflect on their hard work, engage in team-building, and showcase the real impact they're making.
We’re so proud to have recently celebrated our 2025 cohort who joined us through The 10,000 Interns Foundation, on the end of their very successful 8-week placement with us, in various roles across the business. From Freda who joined us as a Project Support Intern delivering educational campaigns and community outreach to boost local recycling rates, to Abdulwarith who got to experience real-world problem solving as a Maintenance Engineer Intern, there’s no limit to opportunities when it comes to tackling the climate crisis 💚 These internships are just the start of their journeys with some now joining us as graduates and it was an absolute pleasure working with all these passionate environmental champions.
Recently we celebrated National Inclusion Week at Veolia and this year's theme was 'The Power of Presence'. We explored how our presence can positively influence others, through several impactful events across the business. Across the UK, our operational managers delivered mental health toolbox talks, promoting awareness and demonstrating supportive behaviours that truly make a difference. Former England footballer and respected sports pundit Paul Merson shared his experience of addiction and mental health challenges, in an interview that was live-streamed across the business. ⚽🎤 On the day we were also joined by our Mental Health First Aiders who were on hand to help colleagues take time out of their day for their wellbeing and to be present for themselves. ❤ In the week we were also joined by the Forces Employment Charity, who reinforced the invaluable contributions veterans bring to the workplace. Our own ex Armed Forces colleagues provided valuable insight about their successful transition from the military into civilian careers, enriching our knowledge of diverse career paths. Our Inclusion Week demonstrated not only the power of presence but also our collective commitment to creating a supportive workplace where everyone can thrive. 💚

In this new episode of Our People Podcast, Beth sits down with Emma, Soft Services Manager. Together, they unravel Emma's inspiring Veolia journey and explore the critical behind-the-scenes work her team performs at a cutting-edge pharmaceutical manufacturing facility. Throughout the episode, Emma discusses overcoming challenges and developing unexpected skills in her role. She also provides valuable perspectives on the importance of age diversity in the workplace, drawing from her own experiences. "I think having people over 50 in the workplace is as important as having apprentices in the workplace because they both bring different things to the table. I don't have a university education, but I do have life education and life experiences and things that I've learned throughout my life from trial and error." Listen now on your favourite platform 🎧
