Friday 15th July was World Youth Skills Day, on this day we celebrate the importance of equipping young people with the skills needed for success in their professional future. At Veolia, we run graduate and apprenticeship schemes that put young people at the heart of ecological transformation and introduce them to a long term, successful and structured career. We're hosting a day of virtual interviews next Thursday, 28th July! We have positions available for Loaders in Padworth and so are offering on the spot virtual interviews where we can speak with you online (through chat, video or phone) to see if you meet the requirements for the job and let you know a little bit more about the role and what working at Veolia is like. If you're interested please follow the link to sign up and pick a time slot that suits you. We look forward to meeting you then!
Today we are celebrating International Women in Engineering Day! This year the theme is Inventors and Innovators- profiling engineers who dare to be part of the solution and are helping to build towards a brighter future. Although around 16.5% of engineers across the world are women, they are still largely underrepresented in their profession. That’s why we’re taking the opportunity to recoginse the incredible work that women engineers do across the company each and every day!
What we wear to work can have a big impact on our confidence and how comfortable we feel. And that is why we released a new dress for your day policy for our non uniformed UK and Ireland employees. This allows you to tailor what you wear to the type of day you're having. If you've got a meeting in front of clients or customers then a more formal attire would be appropriate, other days you may just be sat at your desk working so can keep your dress smart casual. We want you to be comfortable at work!
Happy Pride month! 🏳️🌈🏳️⚧️ At Veolia, we know just how much of a difference Inclusion and Diversity in the workplace can make. We’re proud of how it forms a key part of our organisation and culture and we’re making sure our way forward is shaped around an inclusive culture, one that values your unique set of skills and experiences. This month, and every month, we celebrate the ability to bring our true authentic self to work. What does pride mean to you?
At Veolia, supporting communities is just as important as protecting the planet. That's why we have launched a range of initiatives focused on building and sustaining thriving communities. These include our Road to Work scheme; part of our contract with Westminster Council, the scheme gives homeless people and rough sleepers the chance to join our street cleaning team. Further initiatives include programmes to support other members of the community. Sustainability is about more than just the natural environment - creating equal opportunities and supporting entire communities are crucial for a more sustainable future. Speaking to the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development), Beth Whittaker, Chief Human Resources Officer at Veolia UK, commented, "We have roles which can provide a great stepping-stone for people who might have been out of work for a long time. We strongly believe in bringing people into the business and giving them an opportunity. We teach them about routine and the importance of turning up on time – things that so many take for granted."

Last week we attended a CTP Employment Fair in Salford and talked to many talented individuals about our career opportunities and how we can support them in their move from the Armed Forces to a career with Veolia. We're extremely passionate about working with our Armed Forces partners as we know the skills and value that they can bring to our business. In 2 weeks we'll be in Edinburgh for what's sure to be another great CTP Employment Fair! If you're looking for support with your transition into a civilian career or know somebody who is, let them know or reach out to us!
