The financial crisis has shifted the priorities of employees in finance and consulting and changed the way that companies recruit. Employers realise that pay is no longer the sole deciding factor and that people want transparency in business practices. With this in mind, Glassdoor, together with The Financial Times, set out to find which finance and consulting firms rank highest for employee satisfaction. We launched our inaugural Best Places to Work in Finance and Consulting 2015 to discover which companies are highest rated according to the people that know them the best – their employees. The following rankings were created by analysing tens of thousands of anonymous reviews left on Glassdoor by UK employees since Glassdoor was launched in 2008. The Top 10 employers are as follows:
  1. Peninsula Business Services
  2. Bain & Company
  3. Newton Europe
  4. McKinsey & Company
  5. Thomas International
  6. Oliver Wyman
  7. GE Capital
  8. Goldman Sachs
  9. Credit Suisse
  10. Macquarie Group
According to Glassdoor’s Chief Economist, Dr. Andrew Chamberlain, there is an important economic link between employee satisfaction and financial performance. Dr. Chamberlain’s work has found that companies that are ‘Best Places To Work’ broadly outperform the stock market – while companies that rank poorly generally underperform. The companies in this list understand more than most the importance of employee satisfaction. To see the full report and the full Top 30 ranking, see the Financial Times online.
