Our corporate values are behind the way we do business every day and, because everyone here helped to set them, everybody follows them. So, if you’re thinking of joining us, it helps if you share these values, too:
Do the right thing - For our people, our customers, our shareholders and our wider stakeholders; make decisions based on what is right, not what is easy; demonstrate personal and professional integrity; do what’s right for the long term sustainability of our business.
Aim higher - Strive to be the best in every area of the business; be ambitious, courageous and innovative; relentlessly challenge and improve; seek and embrace change; learn from our mistakes; persevere; always deliver on our promises and don’t settle for second best.
Work together - Collaborate across all levels and across all functions; leverage skills, knowledge and experience, irrespective of hierarchy, to deliver the best possible results; develop relationships based on trusting each other, partnerships and win-wins; recognise and celebrate success.
Take ownership - Treat it like it’s OUR business; take the initiative; if you can see a better way, go make a difference; take decisions, be accountable for your actions in whatever role you carry out; take responsibility for your own personal development and performance.
Say it like it is - Be real, authentic and true to self; have adult to adult conversations with all audiences; listen, seek to understand and respect diversity of views; be open, call out issues we see; share information and keep things as simple as possible.
Bring all of yourself to work - Be the best you can be, the real and whole you; celebrate our diversity of skills, experiences and personalities; be a role model to others, demonstrate “can do” spirit, have fun and make this a great place to be; be excited about our company and our future; believe in yourself, feel confident and empowered.
Join us and you’ll find that we never stand still. As a Group, that means we’re always looking to stay one step ahead of what our customers will want next. For you, it means a rewarding and enjoyable career, with the scope to learn new skills, suggest new ideas and work with people who share your enthusiasm for giving customers great service.
We know you’ve heard this all before, but the culture here at DLG really is something else. We embrace our individuality – you’ll see it in the way that we think and work, it’s all about ensuring you can enjoy making a contribution, have some fun and be yourself in every aspect. We encourage each other to be the best we can be: no opinion goes unheard, no achievement goes unrecognised, and no idea goes unknown – we even reward you for them! We encourage our people to work together, aim higher and to be the best they can be – for customers, colleagues and the business. It’s an indefinable “DLGness” that makes us who we are, and we’d love for you to be a part of it.
So, enough about us, our work/life balance is all about you. Sometimes it can be difficult to juggle all that life throws at you, so that’s why we do everything we can to help you make the most of it with a range of flexible working options, from part-time, term-time or home working, to job sharing and variable hours. We’ll also support you through the big moments in life, from parental leave to career breaks. We don’t shy away from a good time either – there’s always something going on after work, from casual nights to fancy events, and we’ll give you one free day a year to support a charity or your local community as well as loads of opportunities to help us fundraise for all sorts of amazing causes throughout the year. If it matters to you, it matters to us too.
We’ll let you know if the job you’re interested in offers other optional benefits when you apply.
Diversity makes us who we are, and we learn more and more about it every day. We employ thousands of people, so while you’ll become part of our team, you’ll never be just another number or one of the crowd. Our respect for each other brings about deeper working relationships. You’ll be seen as an individual, and valued and recognised for who and what you are – an amazing colleague and an asset to our company. Our inclusive, open-minded and respectful environment will really support you in becoming what you want to be.
We look for people from a range of backgrounds. So they bring us alternative viewpoints, perspectives and ideas. That’s what our Diversity Network Alliance (DNA) is all about. It stands for everything and everyone. Which means no matter what your gender, age, ethnicity, beliefs, thinking style or sexual preference, or if you’re disabled or a carer, it’s there for you. With strands representing different groups, DNA challenges thinking, influences policy and encourages people to work together to create an even more welcoming and diverse organisation. It helps make us what we are.
I have been working at Direct Line Group full-time (More than 5 years)
I really like working here. Love being part of a company who is so driven to move forward, and the sense of being part of something exciting. There is always something going on. This is my first time working for a large company and the range of roles and opportunities is really interesting.
I have found them to be a really flexible employer that appreciates work life balance and employees wellbeing
I would struggle to think of anything that stands out
I applied online. The process took 2+ months. I interviewed at Direct Line Group (Bromley, England) in March 2017.
From application to scheduling an interview took 30 days. And getting feed back took 39 days. Not exactly a dynamic and fast moving place. Competency style interview, using scripts. Initial chat went well, but once the interviewer started using the script it become bland and rather boring. No attempt made to sell the company/offering or opportunities the role would bring. I did wonder why I bothered applying.
