    Pros

9/80 work schedule. Gym on campus.

    Cons

Awful middle management. Incredible amount of worthless employees they can’t fire. Can’t move up in your own group and have to leave to get a raise or promoted.

    Advice to Management

Don’t micromanage. Find a way to rid yourselves on noncontributers.

    Pros

Good for cleared staff, bad for the civilian sector (Technical services). Probably very good for junior tech people.

Little opportunity for advancement within TS (though Defence sector is good). Pay is okay, mediocre.

    Pros

Good people, no commute, industry average benefits

    Cons

Big corporation can come with frustrating bureaucracy, and more importance on shareholders than employees.

    Advice to Management

Employee compensation is also critical for employee engagement

I worked at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Many, diverse opportunities and training. A place where you could work for your entire career.

    Cons

It's a HUGE company and has gotten less personal in recent years (feels less like a "family" than it used to)

    Advice to Management

Value your people more (like they did in NGES before the creation of NGMS).

I have been working at Northrop Grumman full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Salaries are (or maybe "were") very decent; getting every other Friday off (if you are ahead of your work-load) is very doable; if you are female or a minority you will be actively pursued for promotion if you have "game". Great technology, fantastic customers, friendly and fun peers and co-workers; my supervisor is wonderful; the first four years here were the highlight of my career....the last two have been a downhill...

    Cons

Executive leadership: While Execs talk a lot about work-life balance, valuing their employees and being equal opportunity, they are brutally focused on maximizing profitability even if it is at the expense of their staff....to the point of re-defining your job description to push older, highly compensated employees out and replace them with younger, cheaper people - this is occurring when the stock has soared form $180/share...

    Advice to Management

You talk about integrity, and you practice it very well with customers....but not with employees, stop the two-faced rhetoric when it comes to valuing your employees; experience and judgment are acquired over the long haul - you are alienating senior level execution-oriented personnel. You will reap what you sow. Stop the nonsense before it is too late.
