Pros

Mostly the friendships I will take with me - the majority of non senior leaders are great Hybrid working - still open policy on how many days you need to be in the office No travel expectations Office is great with free snacks and drinks

Cons

No matter how much you fight the machine, people are treated as assets - how much can be extracted from them (aka are they fully utilised) and if not punish them - reduced bonus, no promotion. Ivory Tower leadership, living by survey results rather than personal interaction. London lead has recently commandeered a large corner office for himself to further insulate from the masses. Poor at comms and change management, echos of the Ivory Tower comment above, When I joined the values felt that they meant something and permeated through the company, unfortunately they've become cheap reminders of better times. 'Love your work and life' - as long as it doesn't impact the bottom line! Maybe there's nothing wrong with that, but stop pretending Slalom is different.

Pros

Beautiful office environment, great location, good salary. good perks. lovely colleagues who perish soon.

Cons

A very leveled hierarchical management which leads to a lot of politics and usually abuses. No support for your onboarding despite they claim it. No one can hear you over those who are generating money for the company. A lot of pretentious behavior. Management and lead roles are given to people with limited skills and knowledge. A very high rate of staff turnover. in less than a year no one from my team of 6 who were all under 2 years, 3 of them less than a year in the company were there. You as a consultant should be always at the client. Catastrophic low amount of work they get leads to long bench time for engineers (Sometimes over 3 months). The London office is still not profitable after over 10 years and it is being fed by the US office.

I’m sorry it didn’t work out for you at Slalom. We care deeply for all our employees and feel confident that this is an isolated incident and inconsistent with the feedback we typically receive in London. To clarify one of your factually incorrect statements, Slalom has only been in London since 2014 and after the initial investment to get setup has run as a profitable business for some time. However, we are primarily motivated by the purpose that each person should be able to love their life and work, and we hope you find that happiness in your next role.

Pros

Some really great people, and getting very good at cloud and SaaS implementation

Cons

- Leadership talk about being people focused but their actions do not much the words - There is a lot more “body shop” project or staff augmentation than they like to let on - Very little exposure to senior executives at clients, and therefore limited strategic work

This is John Tobin. I probably know you and appreciate your review. We continue to be a work in progress and I very much still believe in the opportunity we have - as you say - to disrupt consulting. Feel free to drop me an email at johnt@slalom.com should you want to connect on this. Alternatively, if you’d like to share more feedback anonymously, please consider doing so via this survey: http://slalom.ws/anonsurvey. Best of luck to you.
