Plastic waste is a huge problem for our marine environment. So it's fantastic news today that the Refill scheme to create a network of businesses refilling people's water bottles is to be rolled out across the country. We helped launch Refill Norwich last year and now 66 local shops, cafes and restaurants are on board. Water companies across the UK have now joined forces with some big names like Costa Coffee and Premier Inn to bring this campaign to towns and cities across the country. Find out more ...........

We're celebrating today after being named the second best employer in the UK by jobs website Glassdoor – beaten only by Google! The Glassdoor Employees’ Choice Awards are based on anonymous employee feedback. Our staff gave us an average score of 4.4 out of 5, and 89% said they would recommend us to a friend. Our 4,500 employees work on sites from the Humber to the Thames, and they take a huge pride in their work providing water and sewerage to millions of people and protecting our environment. Here are just a few of them (with a special cake we will be tucking into later!) – Anita from our customer service team, sewer technicians Gareth and Jake, tanker driver Lee, science labs manager Riaz and water network technician Mike. We believe employee wellbeing is the key to a successful business and great customer service. If your New Year’s resolution later this month is to start a new phase in your career then check the link in the comments and head over to our careers site to see what we have on offer!
There were so many great ideas and lots of inspiration for creating happy, healthy workplaces at our Wellbeing in Business event in Cambridgeshire today. Thank you to all the businesses who have come along to support and be a part of the event. One thing that everyone could agree on, is that wellbeing in the workplace is intrinsically linked to business success and supporting communities.
We have recently been given a silver award from the Ministry of Defence for our work helping former services personnel into work. We’ve signed the MoD’s Corporate Covenant, a promise to do all we can to give Army, Navy and RAF leavers new career opportunities. We attended the Personnel Today awards last week and are pleased to announce that we won the ‘Excellence in L&D’ award. Thanks to everyone involved and our partners Lane4 and Loughborough university School of Business and Economics. Congratulations to all the other winners as well. Our Transforming Our Leadership programme has been received very well by our staff. Phil Brown, Head of People Development says: “The aim of this Programme, which to date has involved our directors, senior and first line managers, has been to challenge existing thinking, bring fresh perspectives from outside our organisation and to build the skills of our leaders in a range of key areas we feel will be important for the future”.
