Last week, Depop held its annual ‘Day of Depop’, bringing our UK and US teams together to celebrate another year of making fashion circular! 🍾 The day kicked off with ‘Depop’s Den’, where our Hack Week finalists showcased their innovative tech ideas. Over 300 Depoppers took on a scavenger hunt around East London with Let's Roam, ending at our incredible summer party where we celebrated with delicious street food, Tick Boom face painting, crafting courtesy of Daisy Lily and Blingo Hip Hop Bingo. Shout out to our vendors: Lil Watan, Vegan Spice, Fluffy Puffin, Chop and Chip, and Margo & Rita. The Day of Depop truly embodies our culture, showcasing the creativity, innovation, and community that defines us. Here’s to another year!
Last week, the Queer@Depop ERG took over Vibes to celebrate queer joy and community at Depop with a very special Pride@5, spotlighting queer-owned businesses and creatives. We celebrated with some incredible Drag performances from Maria and Vidya of Soft Play Area, Valentín and Cabbage the Clown, delicious canapés provided by queer-owned caterer Butch Salads, and Kween Kream returned to Depop HQ with Pride-themed sweet treats ✨
We’re proud to be included on TIME's list of the 100 Most Influential Companies of 2024, published today. This is an exciting reflection of the power of our global community of buyers and sellers, and our collective mission to change fashion for the better. Huge credit to our teams and community for their contributions to our mission - together, we’re helping make secondhand second nature for more people around the world.
To mark Mental Health Awareness Month, Black@Depop Employee Resource Group members from London HQ attended ‘For Black Boys’, a powerful play shedding light on the mental health challenges faced by Black individuals. We also had the pleasure of taking part in an R&B slow flow yoga session, led by Georgie from Soular Space, followed by delicious bespoke juices from Get Juiced! - What an amazing way to build connections and promote wellbeing and self-care within the community ❤️

At Depop, we believe in the power of our community to change fashion consumption, creating a system that’s kinder to both people and the planet. Buying and selling on Depop helps to keep clothing in use for longer - making it easier for our community to extend the life of their clothes and to find alternatives to buying new. This Earth month, as with every month in the year, we were excited about the impact our community is already driving in the world, by making circular fashion more desirable and accessible to everyone. We’re proud to announce that Depop buyers and sellers have avoided an estimated more than 300,000* metric tonnes of greenhouse gas emissions over the last three years alone. That’s the equivalent of driving around Earth more than 30,000 times. To celebrate the contribution of Depop’s buyers and sellers in making fashion circular, we launched a new campaign ‘Every Day is Earth Day’. The campaign in-app and via email provides our users with a personalised reveal of the positive environmental impact of their fashion choices on Depop. This includes the average amount of greenhouse gas emissions they’ve avoided across Australia, the UK and USA, by buying and selling secondhand items, such as bottoms, tops, shoes, outwear, dresses, rather than brand new ones. By making secondhand exciting, inspiring and more accessible, our hope is to change people’s attitudes to consumption on a mass scale, over time.

The news is out… 👀 We’re saying goodbye to charging selling fees for users based in the UK. We want to empower our sellers to list more, sell more and earn more, and make it as easy as possible for people who’ve never sold before to give it a try. More listings means more choice for UK buyers at a greater range of price points; enabling them to find the items they love, on budget. 💸 This is part of a wider update to our fee structure in the UK, which will also see the introduction of a small marketplace fee for UK buyers from 15th April, supporting continued investment across the Depop marketplace including in Depop Protection, customer support, platform improvements and growing Depop’s community. Run don't walk to the Depop app to list now with zero selling fees 🏃♂️ 🏃♀️ >>> And find out more about the changes here >> https://shorturl.at/afpLV
