Pros

Okay pay in coach roles Can be really positive and a great developmental environment if your line manager is behind you Internal development programmes are good

Cons

Pushed to the max with hours being cut some weeks (should consider saving some money by reducing the copious amounts of POS sent into store) If you don’t have a responsible store coach, you will struggle. Examples include: fostering a toxic work environment, allowing a culture of bullying and gossip (beyond normal workplace chat), rota changes up to and including the day of shift impacting your personal life, refusing to support the development of younger colleagues.

Not recommended for engineers

Pros

- Good work and life balance - You get to work with a few great software engineers - Benefits are okay-ish

Cons

- Lack of growth opportunities as a software engineer - You have to put up with childish people making childish decisions based on their mood. I witnessed a staff engineer resisting to make a process change just because they don't like it. You don't really get to have an adult-to-adult conversation with some people. - Microagressions (lack psychological safety) - Poor communication across management, leadership, and teams. - Interview questions have not been updated in 5 years, which resulted in less effective hiring decisions. - Average annual pay increases are around 2%. - The engineering department culture tends to be clique-driven.
