It's a very exciting week for us here at Santander UK 🥳 Not only is it Santander Week, it's also the beginning of our big move (across the road!) into our new Head Office, located within Unity Place MK. We've been patiently watching the building grow since 2020, and the wait is now finally over. Unity Place isn't just home to our Head Office, it’s a collaboration and leisure space open to the public, featuring a restaurant, street food vendors, retail outlets, event space and more. We’re really excited to be sharing this space with the local Milton Keynes community and businesses. To our wonderful Santander UK team – we hope you love our new home as much as we do ❤️
Just over a month ago we welcomed the next cohort of Santander UK Graduates and Apprentices to Unity Place MK. We gave them a "sneak preview" of what they could expect when they join in September and our new head office. Here you can get a idea of what happened on a really enjoyable day.
500,000 5 to 16-year-olds have now used our STEM resources globally! Last week, at Silverstone Circuits Ltd, we hosted a unique masterclass with Scuderia Ferrari and Twinkl Educational Publishing. A group of students from Watling Academy went behind the scenes of the 2023 British Grand Prix to learn about the important role of STEM subjects in the world's fastest sport, Formula 1. Students met members of the Scuderia Ferrari team to understand how STEM subjects enable them to do their job. The students asked lots of questions and were left inspired about their own journey through education and beyond. They're just 5 of the 500,000 children and young people who have already benefited from our F1 educational resources with Twinkl. Download your free learning packs at: www.twinkl.com/SantanderF1
We’re proud to be a founding member of Progress Together as part of our commitment to improving Social Mobility in the Financial Services Sector and across the UK. Through our Social Mobility Strategy, we’re creating more career pathways for our colleagues, as we aim to build on our progress of having 45% of our Senior Leaders being from lower or intermediate backgrounds. Our £1 million Santander UK Universities scholarship programme is also helping 100 students from under-represented groups with annual grants of £10,000 over three years, as we work to ensure everyone can access the educational opportunities and skills they need to fulfil their true potential. Nicole, one of our scholars, said about the programme - "Being a 25-year-old mature student living independently and supporting myself since the age of 16 has never been easy. The financial help from this scholarship will help me find new things that stimulate my mind and help me grow. I have so many more avenues available to me, thanks to the scholarship.”

We're delighted to have been named among the UK's top 100 most LGBTQ+ inclusive employers by Stonewall! Alongside climbing 55 places in the index and now ranking 31st, we received a Gold Award for trans and non-binary inclusion. The index provides a comprehensive benchmark of how public, private and charity sector organisations deliver LGBTQ+ equality and inclusion for their employees, customers and communities. It provides a blueprint for all other types of inclusion and diversity. Working in collaboration with many teams across the business, our Embrace Network has been at the forefront of making significant progress in embedding the principles of LGBTQ+ inclusion into some of our core processes, which has been fundamental in our rise through the ranks. We're dedicated to creating a truly inclusive environment for all, where colleagues can bring their whole selves to work and thrive by doing just that. We also know that there is always room for improvement, and look forward to making further progress in 2023. #ThePlaceToBeYourself
