Santander has announced its decision to remove the 2:1 degree classification requirement from its Graduate Scheme from January 2023. The move reinforces the bank’s focus on a broad range of assessments to measure potential and is an acknowledgement that performance at university is not the only indicator of success in the workplace. Around 16% of students leaving university do not achieve a 2:1 or 1st class degree qualification. The change to entry criteria means over 64,000 more graduates are now able to apply for the Santander Graduate Programme. (1) The Santander Graduate Programme provides experience across a number of the bank’s functions including Audit, Corporate and Commercial Banking, Cyber, Everyday Banking, and Finance & Risk. It benefits people starting out in their career by focusing on personal and professional development through mentorship from senior leaders and ongoing career coaching. We won! 🥳 Last month we attended the Menopause Friendly Employer Awards and are very proud to have won in two categories: 🏆 ‘Most Supportive Partner’ recognising our commitment to helping other organisations on their menopause journey. 🏆 Theresa Winters received the 'Carolyn Lazarus Award', recognising her personal efforts to make Santander a truly ‘menopause friendly’ place to work. Congratulations, Theresa! Supporting the health and wellbeing of our people is really important to us, and we know that, for those experiencing menopause symptoms, it can be a difficult time. We’re committed to fostering a culture where menopause is openly discussed and individuals can get the support they need, when they need it, to enable them to thrive.
We are deeply saddened by the news of the passing of Her Majesty, Queen Elizabeth II. Her Majesty lived a remarkable life of public service and had an extraordinary impact on countless people around the world. Our thoughts and condolences are with the members of the Royal Family.
We’re delighted that our efforts to create a safe and inclusive environment for conversations around menopause in the workplace have been recognised in our shortlists for Most Open Workplace, Most Supportive Partner and Best Support Group in the Menopause Friendly Employer Awards 🥳 In addition, Theresa Winters has been shortlisted for the Community Award which recognises individuals providing great support for others or by taking the lead to make their own organisation menopause friendly. Congratulations, Theresa!

It’s fantastic to have been awarded the Carer Confident Accomplished Award through the Employers for Carers benchmarking scheme, which acknowledges our support for carers who combine work and their caring responsibilities. The Award particularly recognised the development of our Working Carers Guidelines and the support provided through our Families & Carers Network. We are proud of the progress we have made over the past year and we’re committed to doing more to support carers.
