      Pros

Almost everyone I worked with was great personality wise and rarely did I work with a person who I thought was not at least competent at their job - most were good at it. The benefits were good. Work life balance was very acceptable in my role.

      Cons

Your career is often shaped by the company, not always by you. They choose which role you move into next. You can express a preference but you don't apply for roles - you get offered one. You can say no maybe once or twice but I would suggest that is frowned upon. Some people may not like this lack of control over career direction. Downsizing in the UK in 2017 and 2021 might suggest a lack of opportunity going forward in at least in UK locations. The oil business is cyclical though so that might change. The culture of safety will take some getting used to. In the long run it might make you safer/more risk averse.
