I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Historic and great company to work for. You have a lot of backing, and funds to play with. Great exposure to seniors if you want it.

I believe LM is really what you make of it, they really love Engineering SMEs but also allow you go to out the box in your career.

    Cons

Still very US based, and don't really know how to do business outside of US government to government sales. Still sees the UK business as immature, even though we show them up a lot of times!

    Advice to Management

You have a lot of experience in your UK work force on how to do international business, use it.

Site's future is uncertain beyond current projects

    Pros

Very ethical, diverse company. Lots of depth in some areas (i.e. key programmes / products). Well understood structure, plenty of room for movement.

    Cons

Very deep hierarchy, can be at risk of being pigeon-holed and therefore remove ability to move between roles. Very process heavy.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees, understand some subtle feedback and know when to accept advice from those who are your junior. Encourage alternative ways of doing things rather than 'it's this way or the highway'.

I worked at Lockheed Martin as an intern

    Pros

The office had a great community feel. I learned a lot while I was there. By the time I left, I felt like I was prepared for a future career within the aerospace sector.

    Cons

The workload was sometimes too light which resulted in me feeling slightly underappreciated as an employee.

    Advice to Management

Challenge the interns a bit more. You might find it surprising of what they're capable of if given the chance.

    Pros

Very flexible schedule, savings plan matches 50 percent when you contribute up to 8 percent, great people to work with

    Cons

Not very good benefits, especially health care. Lower end salary compared to market price. Low pay band so difficult to get a good raise even if you do a good job

    Cons

    Pros

Great benefits: vacation, 401k matching, medical and good pay. Engaging, challenging work, lots of different kinds of jobs and opportunities for growth.

    Cons

Work environment is very dependent on the business unit and culture of a particular program. Some programs are fast paced and modern while others are slow paced, very bureaucratic, highly political and outdated. Depending on the program you could be working on the latest tech or you could be working on very outdated tech from legacy projects.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits.
Company enables me to make project implementation decisions and likewise expects results.

    Cons

Company is quick to not stand behind you when suppliers complain. You are at fault until proven innocent.
    HR in processing takes f o r e v e r.

    Advice to Management

Someone in upper management read a 1" paper back book and employed a Change the Culture program for performance reviews. This at best simplified the commits activities.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good 401k matching & work life balance. 9/80 schedule means every other Friday off. Interesting work if you seek it.

    Cons

Slow paced. A lot of old processes (with at times too many handoffs and paperwork) still in place. If you don't seek interesting work (i.e. stretch projects), young engineers may be stuck with paperwork.
