I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Job security, diversity of roles, pay and working environment is generally good, good mix of personnel and experience on most projects, good opportunities for graduates

    Cons

Old fashion in their approach, benefits are average, and I have found that programme management do not take advice from their beginners, generally do not learn from past mistakes, have an attitude of we have always done things this way so it must be right

    Advice to Management

Programme Management do not often listen to their engineers

    Pros

Historic and great company to work for. You have a lot of backing, and funds to play with. Great exposure to seniors if you want it.

I believe LM is really what you make of it, they really love Engineering SMEs but also allow you go to out the box in your career.

    Cons

Still very US based, and don't really know how to do business outside of US government to government sales. Still sees the UK business as immature, even though we show them up a lot of times!

    Advice to Management

You have a lot of experience in your UK work force on how to do international business, use it.

    Pros

Very ethical, diverse company. Lots of depth in some areas (i.e. key programmes / products). Well understood structure, plenty of room for movement.

    Cons

Very deep hierarchy, can be at risk of being pigeon-holed and therefore remove ability to move between roles. Very process heavy.

    Advice to Management

Listen to employees, understand some subtle feedback and know when to accept advice from those who are your junior. Encourage alternative ways of doing things rather than 'it's this way or the highway'.

I worked at Lockheed Martin full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Very good benefits at a good company.

    Cons

Some HR polices were not employee friendly.

    Advice to Management

Try and retain your talent. Many talented and cleared folks were lost due to the Leidos spin/sell-off.

I have been working at Lockheed Martin full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Potential to work on interesting projects.

Managers seem flexible for systems engineering in letting you do something different if you are unhappy with what you are doing and are interested in something else if there is availability.

    Helpful managers and coworkers

    Cons

The company is very cheap towards their employees

The only health benefits are high deductible plans

The pay and benefits are not competitive compared to other large engineering companies

You only get 40 hours of sick days a year. If you go over you owe them 40 hours of unpaid overtime plus the number of hours you go over 40. ex. 42 hours of sick days = 42 hours of overtime.

They took away their fitness program that assists in paying for your gym membership

They will not pay you more money for getting a Masters Degree once you are there

    Advice to Management

    Invest in your talent
