What are the signs of a great employer?

Glassdoor’s 50 Best Places to Work in the UK list features winning employers across twelve industries, including consulting, finance, technology, media, pharmaceutical & biotechnology, and more. Tech companies dominate the winners with 16 employers from the sector recognised.

Sixteen of the companies are newcomers to the list and 22 are headquartered in the UK. Many companies made our '24 list in part due to flexible work environments, a focus on better pay, improved benefits packages, and excellent work-life balance.

In addition to recognising the 50 companies in the UK, Glassdoor also compiled Best Places to Work lists for the U.S. and US Small & Medium Companies.

In 2024, fifteen employes appeared on both country lists (US and UK). Especially the Tech industry has a high number of winning companies in these markets with Apple, Bloomberg L.P., Cisco Systems, Google, SAP, ServiceNow and VMware. Employers in the Consulting industry are also strongly represented in the US and UK, namely Bain & Company, Boston Consulting Group, Experian, Gartner and McKinsey & Company. While JPMorgan Chase & Co and Mastercard are top rated by US and UK employees, it is noteworthy that Nike is the only company in the manufacturing industry present in both country lists.

“Worklife is rapidly changing, and professionals are turning to Glassdoor to share their experiences about working for some of the most competitive employers in the world,” said Christian Sutherland-Wong, Glassdoor Chief Executive Officer. “The Best Places to Work award is a stark reminder of the power of Glassdoor, from arming professionals with career insights and real-time conversations about all things work and life, to providing employers with feedback to improve.
