    ever changing so constantly learning new skills. working within a team allowing you to form good relationships. Lots of opportunity within the business to move around and progress

    targeted and can be quite a pressurised enviroment

    4 days a week 8-4 in summer months if you wish to work longer hours in winter (45 hour week winter)8-6 average
    Same basic pay throughout the year
    Overtime available

    Tools paid for
    Back up and technical support 10/10

    Cons

    Weekend shifts and late shifts
    Call centre offshore not helpful requires patience when making phone calls to get the simplest requests sorted

    I worked at British Gas full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    The people are fantastic their apart from senior management, the colleagues I worked with were tight knit and like family and the support during tough times was brilliant.

    The salary is good but not worth the pressures it brings

    Cons

    Disgusting senior management.
    The job your told to do does not reflect the job title
    Priorities are strictly financially based rather than working on structure and listing to feedback from frontline colleagues .
    If your not a manager or any senior management your words or feedback means nothing and you don't have a leg to stand on.
    The systems are oudated the style in which the process the site uses is out of date and and far old school.
    Their is no modern approach or colleagues interest looked at.

    Advice to Management

    First change the whole atmosphere of the work environment, the burden on colleagues is ridiculous
    Feels like being in a class with a strict teacher
    Recognise and promote colleagues on frontline that actually work hard and want to do well
    Make the process more simple and effective
    Listen to colleagues advice and feedback
    Create a family culture from top to bottom
    More direct communication from the top to the bottom as their are too many middle men

    Ability to move around the company to different departments mean you can branch out into different areas and grow your career.

    Cons

    The long-term view often sacrificed in frontline services to accommodate the short-term need, especially in terms of employee training and progression.

    Poor management decision making
    Unpleasant culture to work in
    No-one able to do anything as too worried/scared that they will get it wrong

    Provide a clear direction for everyone to follow
    Make consistent decisions
    Listen to your people and reduce the hierarchical approach
