Overview

We are seeking a motivated Data Engineer Intern to join our dynamic team. Duties

• Assist in designing, developing, and maintaining scalable data pipelines using tools such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Informatica.
• Support the integration of data from various sources including AWS cloud services, Oracle databases, and Microsoft SQL Server.
• Contribute to the optimisation of data storage solutions such as data warehouses and data lakes.
• Help in implementing database design principles to ensure efficient data organisation and retrieval.
• Write and maintain SQL queries for data extraction, transformation, and loading (ETL) processes.
• Develop scripts using Bash (Unix shell), Shell Scripting, and VBA to automate routine tasks.
• Collaborate with senior engineers on analysis projects using Python and analyse large datasets for insights.
• Assist in troubleshooting issues related to data pipelines and infrastructure components.
• Document processes and workflows to ensure clarity and reproducibility of tasks.

Skills

• Familiarity with cloud platforms such as AWS is highly desirable.
• Proficiency in programming languages including Python and Java.
• Knowledge of Big Data technologies such as Hadoop, Apache Hive, Spark, and related ecosystems.
• Experience with database management systems like Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and understanding of database design principles.
• Understanding of Data Warehouse concepts and architecture.
• Strong analysis skills with the ability to interpret complex datasets effectively.
• Experience with scripting languages including Bash (Unix shell) and VBA for automation purposes.
• Good organisational skills with an eye for detail to ensure high-quality work output.
• Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment while managing multiple tasks efficiently.

Pay: £36,509.86-£97,823.26 per year
