Job description
As a Senior Analyst, you’ll be at the centre of shaping how Nationwide prices and manages its personal loans and credit cards, helping to support over £4.5bn of unsecured lending for our members. You’ll work with complex, high‑volume datasets to uncover the real story behind performance, identifying trends and providing clear, actionable insight. Your ability to interpret changing customer behaviours, understand commercial impact and communicate compelling narratives to senior stakeholders will make you a trusted voice in a fast‑moving environment.
Success in this role calls for a naturally curious, self‑motivated thinker with strong analytical capability, experience working with large datasets and the ability to code using tools such as SAS or similar. Whether your background is in a pricing role or another analytical discipline, you’ll be comfortable navigating complexity, building strong relationships and presenting insight with clarity and precision.
You’ll join an inclusive, collaborative team that’s passionate about understanding the markets we operate in and committed to supporting our members’ borrowing needs. Together, we focus on delivering robust analysis and thoughtful insight that strengthens the performance of our products and contributes to a resilient future for Nationwide. One grounded in expertise, curiosity and a genuine desire to make a meaningful difference.
At Nationwide we offer hybrid working wherever possible. More rewarding relationships are supported through our hybrid approach, bringing colleagues together across our UK wide estate, whilst also supporting generous access to home working. We value our time in the office to solve problems, to learn, and to feel connected.
For this job, you'll spend at least two days per week, or if part-time, you'll spend 40% of your working time, based at our either our Swindon or London office. If your application is successful, your hiring manager will provide further details on how this works. You can also find out more about our approach to hybrid working here.
If we receive a high volume of relevant applications, we may close the advert earlier than the advertised date, so please apply as soon as you can.
What you’ll be doing
You’ll draw on a blend of internal and external data to build a deep understanding of unsecured lending performance. By transforming complex information into clear, compelling narratives, you’ll provide insight that resonates with key stakeholders across the business. Your commercial awareness, analytical strength and ability to interpret trends will be used to develop pricing proposals and the setting of trading and financial objectives.
Your work will directly influence how we respond to market conditions, customer behaviours and emerging opportunities, ensuring our lending activity remains both competitive and responsible. Through thoughtful analysis and a strong grasp of financial dynamics, you’ll help maintain the profitability and long‑term sustainability of one of Nationwide’s fastest‑growing areas.
In this role, your insight becomes the foundation for decisions that support our members, strengthen our products and contribute to the continued growth of the organisation.
About you
As a minimum, you’ll have:
Hands‑on SAS expertise - Experience using SAS Viya, Base SAS or Enterprise Guide, with confident use of Macros and SQL to deliver high‑quality analytical outputs
Advanced data interpretation - Proven ability to interpret, manipulate and simplify large, complex datasets, transforming them into clear, meaningful insight for senior stakeholders
Analytical leadership - Comfortable leading and coordinating analytical projects from initial brief through to final recommendations, ensuring clarity, rigour and strong commercial relevance
Technical and reporting capability - Strong PC skills, technical aptitude and hands‑on experience delivering accurate analysis and reporting in a fast‑paced environment
Our customer first behaviours put customers and members at the heart of how we work together. They are the set of behaviours that every colleague needs to display, in every role:
Feel what customers feel - We step into our customers’ shoes, using their feedback and insights to empathise with them and to understand their needs, so that every decision we make starts and finishes with our customers in mind
Say it straight - We are brave in speaking out and saying what we think – we’re honest and direct with good intent, openly sharing diverse perspectives to reach the best conclusions and using language everyone can understand
Push for better - We don’t settle for mediocrity, we challenge the status quo, taking responsibility for continuous improvement and personal development
Get it done - We prioritise what will have the greatest impact, we are decisive, and we take accountability for delivering brilliant customer outcomes
You can strengthen your application by showing how our customer first behaviours resonate with you, and where you may have already demonstrated these.

If you’re inspired by fairer finances, passionate about making a meaningful impact, and truly care about our customers, you’re one of us.
