I worked at AstraZeneca part-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Good company to work for, very good for health & safety. Good bonuses & share scheme, good wages & shift disturbance payments. Wide range of roles available, & can move up from shop floor into management.

    Cons

Pension scheme has been butchered a couple of times over the years, so, whilst still not bad, is nowhere near as good as it was. If you've been there a long time you'll probably start feeling that its diminishing returns on overall enjoyment. Many seem to end up a bit disillusioned. Some of the directions coming from top management leave the workers scratching their heads in dis-belief. Does often seem like... management listen to the loudmouths, & bad behaviour has been seen to be rewarded. On balance, still a good place to work, but if you're looking to be there for a long time, be prepared for a level of disillusionment to set in eventually.

    Advice to Management

Think before you pontificate. Those of us who've been there for years see the same ideas coming & going every few years or so, coming in & out of favour & back round again. When this is pointed out, we're labelled as negative! Most people there want to do a good job, but managers are rarely aware of who actually does what.

I have been working at AstraZeneca full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Excellent colleagues, good gym, exciting pipeline, good interactions with Gaithersburg OMW colleagues

    Cons

Current Staffing Levels in Biologics Need increasing, but management are aware

    Advice to Management

Making everything accelerated won't work without strategies to outsource more activities. Closer relationships with CMO's required to allow gauranteed results.

I worked at AstraZeneca full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Lots of great people, great systems, best in class for lots of things. Great benefits and tools

    Cons

Lots of not so great people! Favouritism, really long working hours and little reward. Some bullying

    Advice to Management

Ensure there is an HR representative in all interview processes who remains impartial. Too many people are hiring and firing without proper training

    Pros

Great chance to shine in research and development

    Cons

Almost impossible to get promoted without changing roles if you are not in a science based role.

    Advice to Management

It takes more than scientists to reach our company goals so please don't forget all those support staff that helped get these projects over the line.
