The D. E. Shaw group seeks motivated, intellectually curious students to join the firm’s Investor Relations (IR) team as interns. This team plays a pivotal role in supporting current and prospective investors by providing insight into the operational workings of the firm and its funds. IR interns collaborate with a global team of investor relations professionals to learn about the firm’s investment strategies, products, and clients in a collegial work environment. This is a ten-week program that is expected to run from June to August 2027.
What you’ll do day-to-day
Take on projects that require rigorous analytical thinking and creative problem solving.
Responsibilities may include helping enhance various communication efforts, conducting prospect- and investor-focused research, participating in brainstorming sessions with colleagues, or attending meetings with investors.
Who we’re looking for
An impressive record of academic achievement with demonstrated intellectual curiosity and keen analytical skills.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, a structured approach to solving problems and driving projects forward, and exceptional attention to detail.
A client-focused approach, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Experience with consulting, venture capital, economic research, or product management/strategy through clubs or internships is a plus but not required.
Current enrollment in a bachelor’s or graduate degree program in any field of study; no previous finance experience is necessary. Students who apply to this internship are usually approaching their final year of full-time study.
