I worked at The Body Shop part-time for more than a year

    Pros

The Body Shop is without a doubt the best place I have ever worked. It was fun, engaging, challenging and you where almost always kept busy.Pay is also incredibly generous,as you are paid pretty much the same no matter your age bracket. My colleagues where wonderful people, they became more like family to me during my time with the company -I genuinely miss them after moving on.My manageress was also an incredibly friendly,funny...

    Cons

The only downside of working here,is that you dont get very many hours (unless its peak times, like Christmas).I had to work a second job at the weekend to afford my bills at home.Hours dont increase unless you are promoted to Team Leader. If that isnt an issue for you though,be sure to apply. You wont regret it!

    Advice to Management

Carry on being as wonderful as you are.

      Cons

      Advice to Management

Management should walk around more to understand what is being worked on and get more of a feel for issues and challenges faced in all aspects of work so these can be improved

I worked at The Body Shop full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

Good teamwork in some areas, decent holiday allowance and flexibility. Volunteering and the Foundation charity.

      Cons

Lots of managerial incompetence. Many managers seemed to spend more time and energy on trying to appear competent than the energy it would’ve taken to do their job properly! Jobs pour les garçons! The best opportunities seemed to go to imports from L’Oréal, some were worthy many were not very good and simply using their positions as stepping stones.

      Advice to Management

Emailing people from home on a Sunday night is pointless and fools no one, come in motivated and ready to lead and to listen during core hours. Don’t lose sight of the principles behind the origins of the business.

I worked at The Body Shop part-time

      Pros

Supportive environment with lots of training on an ongoing basis, and great perks (pieces of free makeup and discount on all products).

      Cons

Having to follow the rigid processes of customer service sometimes felt a bit fake, because not all customers want the same level of service.

      Negative Outlook

I worked at The Body Shop full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Well paid for contracted hours, good staff discount.

      Cons

Bad management team, HR have no interest in staff wellbeing, so process driven unable to act reactively.

      Advice to Management

Employ staff that care for the wellbeing of their team, want to do a good job and actively embrace change. Take the time to hear what leavers say, and if there is a pattern look into it rather than sweep under the carpet.
