Overview
We are hiring our first Product Designer to define and lead design across a fast-moving, data-dense product in the financial technology space.
Today, product design is not centralized — decisions are made across product and engineering. We are looking for someone to bring clarity, structure, and high-quality execution to the entire user experience.
You will be designing for advanced, power users working with real-time market data, analytics, and execution workflows. The product is highly complex, where usability, precision, and clarity directly impact user outcomes.
This is a hands-on individual contributor role, not a management position. You will report directly to the CEO initially, with a transition to reporting to a Head of Product once that role is in place.
What You’ll Do
- Own product design end-to-end: research, interaction design, UI design, and engineering handoff across web and mobile
- Design onboarding, activation, pricing, and conversion flows with a focus on improving clarity and performance of key funnels
- Improve usability across complex, real-time data workflows and trading-style interfaces
- Design tools for advanced market data such as order flow, DOM-style views, footprint/cluster charts, volume profiles, and execution systems
- Establish a lightweight design system (components, patterns, and guidelines) that supports scale
- Work closely with founders and a small engineering team in a fast-paced, async-friendly environment
- Help define interaction patterns for upcoming AI-assisted features such as alerts, insights, and data interpretation tools
What We’re Looking ForRequired
- 5+ years of product design experience
- Portfolio demonstrating 3–4 shipped end-to-end products (web or mobile)
- Experience working on complex, technical, or data-dense products, such as:
- Trading or financial platforms
- Analytics or BI tools
- Developer tools or similar systems
- Strong ability to simplify complex workflows without reducing functionality
- Comfortable working as the only designer in a startup or small team environment
- Strong visual and interaction design skills with high attention to detail
- Expert in Figma and design system practices
- Strong written communication and ability to work effectively in async environments
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with financial markets or trading concepts (order flow, volume profile, DOM, etc.)
- Experience building design systems from scratch
- Experience optimizing SaaS funnels (activation, conversion, retention)
- Experience working in small engineering teams (3–5 people)
Why This Role
- You will define design from the ground up in a product that is actively evolving
- High ownership across the full user experience
- Direct collaboration with founders and engineers
- Significant impact on product clarity, usability, and growth
