Overview
Press Data is looking for a News Researcher and Insight Analyst, with Welsh Language proficiency to work within our Content and Editorial team, supporting our increasing number of clients requiring news content published and broadcast in Welsh.
Our Content and Editorial (Dayshift) team is responsible for monitoring press, broadcast and online content for an extensive list of clients. News Researchers/Analysts play a critical role in providing our media monitoring service with responsibility for viewing, assessing, and delivering news items to meet our clients’ complex requirements.
The team provide written summaries of broadcast programmes and verbatim transcripts of broadcast items for a range of clients. It is essential that all summaries and transcripts are accurate and delivered to meet tight deadlines.
In addition, team members are required to handle some content delivery to clients, ensuring the highest standards of quality control.
Working in Welsh, we analyse media coverage for sentiment and impact. There may be requirements to provide Insight Reports in Welsh.

Skills required
Excellent knowledge of UK and Welsh current affairs
· Ability to interpret and evaluate news articles accurately and at speed
· Welsh Language Proficiency
· Fast, accurate typing and good all-round IT skills
· Some writing/journalistic experience
· Good concentration levels within busy working environment
· Ability to work and communicate well within a team structure
· Ability to manage time to meet tight deadlines
The Candidate
We are ideally looking for a bright and enthusiastic graduate who can bring an all-round understanding of UK current affairs to the post.
The ability to produce accurate work to a series of tight deadlines is essential, as is the aptitude to interpret a large and diverse amount of information. A significant part of the successful applicant’s duties will involve working quickly and accurately with bespoke media monitoring software. Keyboard skills and some knowledge of IT processes will be an advantage.
